Farmer's hands holding freshly harvested produce in golden light
HOUSE OF HQ8 · SINGAPORE

Building Premium Production Where Nature Creates.

HOUSE OF HQ8 develops and operates premium origin-based production platforms that transform exceptional agricultural resources into high-value products for global markets.

We don't simply source ingredients. We build value systems around them.

The HQ8 Origin Value Model

Two ways to treat a harvest. Only one builds a future.

HOUSE OF HQ8 develops, owns and operates advanced processing facilities close to agricultural regions — transforming exceptional harvests into premium products while keeping more value, knowledge and opportunity where the harvest begins.

Advanced Production & Maximum Value Creation

Craftsmanship meets modern production.

HOUSE OF HQ8 combines traditional knowledge, agricultural expertise, modern processing technologies and efficient production systems.

The objective: premium products with maximum quality, maximum yield — and maximum respect for the original harvest.

Beyond Zero Waste

Unlocking the full value of every harvest.

Today, many agricultural regions lose significant potential value because only a small part of a harvest is transformed into premium products. Valuable parts of fruits, plants and crops often remain unused — because the required processing capacity, technology or applications do not exist locally. HOUSE OF HQ8 wants to change this.

We see every harvest as a complete value system. Nature already created the value. Our responsibility is to unlock it.

Fruits

Potential value from
  • juice
  • pulp
  • peel
  • seeds
  • natural aromas
  • extracts
  • fibres

Cacao

Potential value from
  • beans
  • pulp
  • shells
  • natural ingredients
  • new applications

Spices & Botanicals

Potential value from
  • essential oils
  • extracts
  • aromas
  • natural compounds
  • remaining plant materials

If valuable applications do not exist yet, HOUSE OF HQ8 explores, researches and develops new solutions — whenever technically and commercially possible. Innovation starts at origin.

Origin Resilience System

Protecting the people behind the harvest.

Agriculture always carries risk. Weather events, climate pressure and harvest failures can affect producer communities.

HOUSE OF HQ8 aims to create long-term systems where part of created value can support origin resilience initiatives — designed to help protect the people and communities behind exceptional products.

Not charity. Partnership and responsibility.

Why Now

Why the world needs a new origin model.

Global consumers increasingly search for:

AuthenticityTransparencyNatural productsResponsible productionReal stories

But many origins still export mainly raw materials.

HOUSE OF HQ8 builds the bridge — from origin potential to global premium value.

Built From Experience

HOUSE OF HQ8 was not created from theory.

It was created from decades of building, producing and learning. Founder Koen De Jans spent more than 25 years understanding the complete chain from the inside:

  • ingredients — grains, fruits, botanicals, herbs and spices
  • production — facilities built and operated from zero
  • quality — measured, protected and rewarded
  • processing — fermentation, extraction, transformation
  • consumer expectations — premium markets, served for decades
  • value creation — from raw harvest to finished product

"The future is not only sourcing from origins.
The future is building with origins."

The founder story explains the origin of the vision. The company represents the future execution of that vision.

Why HQ8 Exists

Behind every resource there are people.
Behind every product there is knowledge.
Behind every harvest there is a story.

Most of the world's finest origin products — spices, cocoa, coffee, botanicals — leave home as anonymous raw material. The people who create their quality rarely share in the value it goes on to earn. Not because anyone decided it should be so, but because the bridge between origin and market was never built.

HOUSE OF HQ8 exists to build that bridge — and to operate it, maintain it and stand behind it for decades. We are not a fund passing through. We are builders who intend to stay.

Who We Are

A small institution with a long horizon.

A Singapore-based company built to develop, own and operate long-term value-creation platforms — with agriculture and origin products at the centre of its work, guided by a written corporate constitution.

We are currently in our strategic development phase, and open about it. Our foundations are defined; our present work is disciplined evaluation and the careful construction of first partnerships.

Singapore is our home by design: rule of law, institutional credibility, connectivity, and a tradition of patient stewardship.

What HQ8 is

  • A system builder — complete value structures, not isolated positions.
  • A builder-operator — we intend to own and operate the platforms we develop, not flip them.
  • An origin partner — we build with farmers, makers and their organisations.

What HQ8 is not

  • Not a short-term investor — we do not buy to sell.
  • Not a speculative fund — no positions that depend on timing markets.
  • Not a commodity trader — we do not move goods for margin while leaving origin unchanged.
  • Not a charity — professional partnerships between experts, built on mutual value.

We would rather be understood slowly than misunderstood quickly.

Principle 01

Harvest to Value™

The journey of a harvest, honoured at every step.

Every harvest is a bet placed months earlier — on weather, on judgement, on skill. When that bet pays off, something of real value comes out of the ground or off the tree. What happens next is the question that defines us.

In most of the world, what happens next is loss: quality averaged into bulk, identity stripped at the port, value migrating to whoever owns the next step. Harvest to Value™ is our refusal to accept that as natural law. We design chains as one connected whole, so the excellence created at origin is protected, proven and paid for at every link — and value completes the circle back to where it began.

  • Complete chains designed before any single link is built
  • Processing kept as close to origin as economics honestly allow
  • Quality measured so it can be rewarded, not averaged away
  • Market relationships that pay for provenance

Principle 02

Local First™

The people of an origin are its greatest asset. We build with them.

A processing facility can be built in eighteen months. The knowledge of when a pod is ready, how a leaf should dry, what a good season smells like — that took generations, and it lives in people.

We work through existing associations and cooperatives wherever they exist; where they do not, we build direct partnerships on the same terms of respect. We hire, train and promote locally. And we measure our own success partly by a hard question: if HQ8 stepped away, what would remain? The answer must be: skills, standards, infrastructure and stronger organisations — not a hole.

  • Existing organisations strengthened, never bypassed
  • Skills that stay in people and places
  • Local roles with real responsibility and advancement
  • Success measured by what remains

Principle 03

Intelligent Industry™

Technology that serves the hands that do the work.

We are neither romantic about tradition nor infatuated with technology. In our systems, technology, data and AI are infrastructure — like a good road: useful every day, invisible most of the time.

A traceability record should help a farmer prove the quality of her lot and be paid for it. A data tool should help an operator plan a season, not report to a dashboard. We introduce tools step by step, with the people who use them.

  • Tools introduced with their users, not imposed on them
  • Data that benefits those it describes — beginning with producers
  • Traceability that makes origin provable and quality rewardable
  • Simplicity as a design requirement

Principle 04

Responsible Growth

Growth must strengthen the ecosystem around it.

Growth that weakens its own foundations is borrowing, not growth. We evaluate expansion by what it does to the whole system — the people in it, the soil beneath it, the communities around it. Where growth would thin out quality, overdraw a resource or outrun the pace at which our partners can grow with us, we choose the slower path.

  • Scaling only what has been validated in reality
  • Growth paced to the people and institutions growing with it
  • Environmental and social soundness as design constraints
  • Durable moderate returns over fragile exceptional ones

The Origin Partnership Model™

The relationship, in three sentences.

I

Farmers create origin value.

On their own land, as independent experts.
II

HQ8 protects, processes and develops that value.

Collection, quality, processing, product development and market access — professional infrastructure producers can rely on, season after season.
III

Markets reward the complete chain.

Buyers pay for proven origin and consistent quality — and that reward flows back through the whole chain.
Fair Value Partnership Model

How compensation should work.

  • Fair and transparent compensation

Prices built on criteria both sides can see and understand.

  • Quality-based premiums

Measurably better product earns measurably better pay.

  • Long-term relationships

Cooperation designed to span seasons and cycles.

  • Predictable cooperation

Clarity on volumes, timing and standards, so producers can plan.

  • Shared improvement

When better practices raise quality, the gain is shared with those who achieved it.

An honest boundary: we will not promise what no honest company can — guaranteed prices in all conditions, or immunity from weather and markets. What we aim to build instead are structures that provide farmers with greater stability, fair recognition for quality, and support mechanisms during difficult production periods.

A Two-Way Agreement

What each side brings.

What producers can expect from HQ8

  • A professional, reliable counterpart that shows up season after season;
  • Transparent quality criteria and open explanation of every grading decision;
  • Premiums for quality, paid as agreed;
  • Practical training and support in post-harvest handling, quality and food safety;
  • Respect for your organisations, your time and your knowledge.

What HQ8 expects from partners

  • Honest dialogue — including about problems, early;
  • Care for quality and willingness to work with shared standards;
  • Reliability within agreed volumes and timelines — and openness when a season makes that impossible;
  • Long-term thinking: building something that lasts, together.

Quality

"A commodity market pays for averages. A quality system pays for excellence — and proves it."

Quality pays for itself — when someone builds the system that makes it visible

Talk to us about your harvest

01

Agriculture & Natural Resources

Production systems where better organisation, quality management and market connection can return a fairer share of value to origin — while protecting the resource base itself.

02

Food Value Chains

Complete chains from primary production through processing to market, designed as one system — with attention to the links where value leaks away from producers.

03

Processing & Manufacturing

Right-sized, quality-led processing operable with local skills — the industrial capability that anchors employment and expertise for decades.

04

Supply Chain Systems

Logistics, quality assurance and coordination that move goods from origin to market without losing identity, integrity or value.

05

Technology & Data Infrastructure

Proportionate, durable digital infrastructure — records, measurement, traceability — built to support operations for years, not to impress for a quarter.

06

Strategic Partnerships

Partnership structures with producer organisations, governments, companies and institutions that align incentives over long horizons.

This page describes fields of research and development, not operating businesses. We announce operations when they exist, not before.

Explore partnership opportunities

01

Understand

Research deeply

The sector, the place, the people, the history of previous attempts. Much of what we need to learn is not in any report — it is in conversations with the people who have grown, made and traded a product for decades.

02

Design

Build systems before structures

Before any entity is formed or asset acquired: the full chain, every participant's incentives, the quality standards, the failure modes. If a system does not work in honest design, it will not work in expensive reality.

03

Validate

Test with real partners

Design tested against reality — with institutions, partners and producers as part of the test, not an audience for its results. We treat negative findings as findings; validation that cannot fail is not validation.

04

Build

Develop carefully

Only after validation — deliberately, at the scale the evidence supports. We prefer to build slightly slower than demand suggests; foundations are cheapest to strengthen before weight is placed on them.

05

Scale

Expand proven systems

We scale what has proven itself — and only that. Understand the new context, adapt the design, validate, then build. Scale is a consequence of soundness, never a substitute for it.

Five stages. No shortcuts. That is the entire method.

Who We Work With

Producer associations & cooperatives

The organisations closest to origin are our preferred first partners. Where they are strong, we work through them; where they are growing, we grow with them.

Governments & public institutions

Alignment with national priorities, sound regulatory grounding and shared long-term objectives. Governments are partners in system design, not obstacles to it.

Companies

Producers, processors, logistics providers and operators whose capabilities strengthen a chain — and whose position within it should strengthen in return.

Entrepreneurs

Builders with deep local knowledge and long-term commitment, who want a structural partner rather than a quick exit.

Institutions

Development institutions, banks and research organisations whose mandates align with durable, responsible value creation.

Technology partners

Teams whose tools serve real operations — measurement, quality, traceability, coordination — and who build for users, not demonstrations.

If your horizon is measured in decades, we are likely to understand each other.

Some people learn value chains from reports. Koen De Jans learned them with his hands.

In the fermentation room, at the still, in the blending cellar — and across the table from the farmers who grew his raw materials. For more than twenty-five years, he has taken grain, fruit and botanicals from their agricultural origin to finished products trusted by demanding customers. That chain — farmer, cultivation, harvest, raw-material quality, processing, production systems, product development, customer expectations, premium markets — is not a diagram to him. It is his working life.

01

Building production from zero

Koen has never inherited a running factory. Across Grain Distillery Wissels, Distillery De Jans, Liquor Distillery De Valk and Gin Belet he was founder, general manager, head distiller and production manager at once — imagining, designing and building each facility from concept to working production line.

02

Rooted in agricultural origins

Every raw material in his career was cultivated and harvested by farmers — grains, fruits, botanicals, herbs and spices. Quality does not start in the factory: it starts with soil, farmer knowledge, cultivation and the honesty of a selection.

03

Botanicals & natural flavour

Juniper and cinnamon, cloves and cacao, citrus, herbs and fruits: decades of fermentation, extraction and distillation — and hundreds of developed recipes — built an instinct for how flavour develops, how balance is found and how quality is preserved.

04

Understanding premium markets

Sixteen years serving private-label clients and a decade designing individual batches for demanding customers taught the other half of the equation: what premium markets expect, and what commercial reality demands of a product.

Recognition followed the work: Laureate of the Flemish Culture Prize of Taste (2007) · four medals at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (2010), in the only competition he ever entered · laureate of "Ambacht in de Kijker" (2011).

"I have spent 25 years making value from harvests. Now I want to build the systems that let harvests keep more of that value at home."
